2009 Pilot Grant Program Call for ProposalsWe
are pleased to announce the call for proposals for the Center’s 2009
pilot grant program. The application deadline is March 31, 2009. The
complete request for proposals with detailed application information
may be downloaded from the Center’s home page, http://aging.utah.edu
The
Center on Aging sponsors an annual pilot grant program to promote
the development of aging research at the University of Utah. The
goal of this program is to encourage the development of new
investigators, attract established investigators to aging research
and stimulate interdisciplinary research collaborations ultimately
leading to new externally funded research.
The Steering
Committee and I are hoping to receive many high quality applications
representing the full spectrum of the Center’s disciplinary
backgrounds. Please make this funding announcement available to all
faculty within your own departments and encourage interested faculty
to submit an application.
2009 Spring Research RetreatThe 2009 Center
on Aging Spring Research Retreat will be held on March 23
(afternoon) and 24 (morning). The keynote address, "The Rise of
Human Longevity and its Implications for Population Aging," will be
presented by John Wilmoth, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of
Demography, and researcher in the Center on the Economics and
Demography of Aging, University of California, Berkeley. A poster
session and reception will occur on Monday afternoon. One of the
important parts of the research retreat is the opportunity for
Center on Aging faculty and your students to display their
scholarship materials on poster boards and on display tables. The
goal is to share and dialogue with others (faculty and community
representatives) your scholarly work in the field of
aging.
It is hoped that each faculty member (or your graduate
student or trainee) will contribute a poster for display during the
poster session on Monday afternoon, March 23. A limited number of
tables will also be provided for exhibit booths and for reprints,
books, etc.
Please submit the following information by March
2 to reserve your space at the poster session to louise.tonin@utah.edu:
•
Names of author/co-authors • Title of your poster
presentation • Need table space for other materials? • If you
wish to present more than one poster. (If space remains after the
reservations are returned, it may be possible to accommodate more
that one poster per faculty member. Please indicate that you have
additional posters that you’d like to present and we will notify you
if there is space to accommodate this request.) Please go to http://aging.utah.edu for specific
details regarding poster instructions and the itinerary.
