11th Annual Research Retreat - 2017

The 11th Annual Research Retreat will feature a Poster Session on Thursday April 27,
and a Keynote/Symposium Session on Friday, April 28. We are pleased to welcome four
speakers to our 2017 Annual Research Retreat.
Keynote Speakers: Adaptive Capacity
Scott Hummel, MD (University of Michigan) “Promoting Resiliency and Successful Outcomes in Heart Failure: What if the Failure’s Not All in the Heart?”
Susanne Iwarsson, PhD (University of Lund) “Transdisciplinary Perspectives on Home, Health and Disability along the Process of Aging”
Keynote Speakers: Resilient Places
James Sallis, PhD (UC-San Diego) “Active Cities: Meeting Many Needs of Older Adults”
Amanda Lehning, PhD (University of Maryland) “Implementation and evaluation of aging-friendly communities: Conceptual and empirical challenges”
They will be joined by four University of Utah faculty presenters:
Andrew Merryweather, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering “Innovations to Address Preventable Falls”
Alexandra Terrill, PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Occupational & Recreational Therapies “Promoting Resilience After Stroke in the Survivor/Caregiver Dyad”
Neal Patwari, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering “Radio Sensing: A Monitoring Technology for Resilient Places”
Heather Sobko, PhD, Associate Professor, College of Nursing " Aging in Place: It's All About Context"

Both events will be located in the atrium of the James L. Sorenson Molecular Biotechnology/USTAR at 36 South Wasatch Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah 84112 from 3:00pm-6:00pm.

Parking is very limited. We encourage you to please walk, take TRAX, carpool or use the free campus shuttle.
